Cool. St.Pierre faces his upset tormentor (Matt Serra) again in UFC 83 - I like watching the welterweights in the UFC as this gives us insight as to how tough the opposition is going to be for Filipino mma fighters once they reach the world stage .
It was in the early 1920's when Pancho villa was shipped out from Manila to New York and bested Jimmy Wilde in an all-time flyweight classic that packed the stadium to the rafters. It took Filipino boxers a very short time to display their fighting skills to the world and win a world championship belt. Hopefully the same could be said of our MMA fighters - where they could compete 170 lbs below ( its actually more like 145 lbs and below - but the crowd draw would be at 170-so some wishful thinking on the weight class - Caloy is 170)
Back to St.pierre and Serra , Serra an 11- 1 underdog the last time around pulled off a great win ( tko strikes 3:25 first round) this time st.pierre is gunning for an all out win against Matt Serra to avenge the loss . Should be interesting - I hope its showing on RPN 9!
